Our Studio Policy
Enrollment: To enroll a student at Academy of Dance, an Enrollment Form must be completed, signed, and dated by the student's parent or
guardian (if under 18 years of age). A $15.00 per student or $40.00 per family non-refundable registration fee is required at the time of
registration. This fee covers administration costs and will reserve a place for the student in an appropriate class.
Student File: Upon enrollment of a student, a family file will be made and placed in the file box located in the waiting area of Academy of
Dance. This is used by Academy of Dance to communicate important information to students and their families. Please check your family
folder every time you are at Academy of Dance.
Change of Status Form: If an existing student adds, drops, or changes any classes or if there is a change in any personal information
required on their enrollment form, you must complete a Change of Status Form. If a student drops a class they must immediately notify the
staff by completing a Change of Status Form. This will allow another student to fill the vacant spot. If a student drops a class and does not
notify the staff you will continue to be billed for that class.
Newsletter: Academy of Dance releases a monthly newsletter in order to keep students and parents informed of upcoming events. A
current newsletter will be placed in your family file each month. They will also be available in the reception area of the studio as well as on
the web site. It is your responsibility to make sure you have a current newsletter. (click here to go to the Newsletter page)
Performance Opportunities: Enrolled students will have the opportunity to perform in annual performances. All students are encouraged
to participate however, participation is not required. Students who choose to participate will be required to purchase costumes. Students
will receive a Costume Order Form several months prior to each performance. the form must be completed and submitted along with
payment in full, by the costume form due date in order to receive a costume and dance in the performance. Dress rehearsals are mandatory.
If a student is absent from the dress rehearsal, they will not be allowed to perform.
Student Pick-Up/Drop-Off: Please do not drop off students any earlier than 10 minutes prior to their class time. And make sure to pick
up students immediately following their class.
Parents and Guests: All visitors of Academy of Dance must conduct themselves in an ethical and appropriate manner while at the facility.
Academy of Dance staff work very hard to provide children and adults with a positive learning environment. Yelling, cursing, gossip, and
slander are not allowed and will not be tolerated. Parents, please supervise any children that you bring to the facility AT ALL TIMES! DO
NOT let your children out of your sight and out of an arms reach. DO NOT allow your children to play outside on the porch or in the
parking lot - this is dangerous. Parents and guests are not allowed in the classroom during class time, as this is distracting to students and
instructors but they may observe students through the windows in the waiting are ONLY. Please do not talk, wave, tap on the window, etc.
to students while they are in class. Instructors may close the blinds in order to eliminate distracting activity. Parents are NOT required to
remain at the facility while their student is in class.
Our Classroom Etiquette Policy
Attire & Hair
Ballet/Lyrical: Girls should wear pink tights, a solid color leotard, and pink ballet shoes. A ballet skirt is optional. Girls should have
their hair tied back in a secure bun. Boys should wear black shorts or tights, solid color t-shirt, and white ballet shoes.
Jazz/Tap/Hip-Hop: Boys and girls must wear dance attire and appropriate shoes. See instructor for specific style. Street clothes are not
allowed. Hair must be tied back away from face.
For the safety of all students, jewelry, including large earrings, necklaces, and bracelets should not be worn to class.
(Post and small earrings are okay.)
Attendance: Good attendance is imperative as absences and tardiness can hold back an entire class. Please make every effort to be on time
for each class. Lack of proper warm-up can result in serious injury. If a student is more than 10 minutes late they will miss the necessary
warm-up and not be allowed to take the rest of the class. Attendance is taken each class and recognition is given at the June performance to
those with perfect attendance from September to June! If there are three or less students attending any given class, the class will be treated
as a semi-private and will be shortened to half the length of the regularly scheduled class. (Tuition will remain the same.)
Classroom Behavior: Students are expected to display courteous and attentive behavior while in the classroom. They will be required to
listen to their instructor at all times, speak in turn when called upon and use appropriate language and actions. Students are required to be
respectful to fellow students and instructors at all times.
Food, Drink, & Gum: Food, gum, and toys are not allowed in the studios. Drinking water is allowed in a sealed plastic container. Please
bring your water in with you at the beginning of class as you will not be allowed to leave class to get water.
Parents and Guests: Please do not converse with instructors during class time. Instructors have consecutive classes throughout the
evening and will not always have time to converse with parents before or after class either. If you have a question for an instructor please
leave a note in their file and they will get back to you.
Our Tuition Rates & Policy
Regular Classes: Tuition is payable on a monthly basis and is calculated on the number of classes throughout the year, not classes per
month. Tuition is due on the 1st of each month.
If you pay your tuition before the 1st, you may pay the Discounted Tuition amount. If you pay after the first day of the month, please pay
the regular tuition rate. Any payments after the 15th will be subject to a 10% finance charge of the full installment amount. ($5.00 minimum
charge.)
Tuition is non-refundable and may not be pro-rated for missed classes however make-up classes are available for injury or illness and must
be pre-arranged with the instructor.
Any checks returned for non-sufficient funds will be subject to a $35.00 administration charge.
Drop-In Students: Students may take classes as a drop-in student if the class is not full. A drop-in student is not able to participate in any
performances and not guaranteed a place in class. The Drop-In rate is $15.00 for a 1 hour class or $20.00 for a 1.5 hour class.
Private Classes: Private classes are available for those who have a desire for more intensive training and individualized attention. These
classes can also act as individualized choreography for competitions, pageants, etc.
Academy of Dance charges $40.00 per hour or $25.00 per half-hour payable at the time of the private class. Your instructor may charge an
additional choreography fee.
Regular dance class tuition must be paid current before a private lesson can be scheduled.
